Please call our elected representatives, as advised by our legal counsel, to urge them to ensure that the woods are permanently protected from development, and that the woods be protected in a conservation easement. The goal and priorities are listed below.

Talking points for your calls:

  1. Prevent impending development in its entirety of the 11 acre rare old growth white oak urban forest on Virginia Tech’s campus know as Stadium Woods.
  2. Permanently protect Stadium Woods with a conservation easement or any other vehicle that will save the forest in its entirety forever.
  3. Urge whomever you speak with to see the website www.savestadiumwoods.com and the link to the Stadium Woods student produced video on You Tube that as of 5/7 has more than 35,000 views.
  4. Inform them that as of 5/7 there are over 8,300 signatures on the Save Stadium Woods petition.

Please call them ASAP this week to express your support for PROTECTING THE ENTIRETY of Stadium Woods in a permanent conservation easement.

Jack Hinshelwood is an award-winning Virginia bluegrass musician. Sharyn McCrumb is an award-winning Southern writer, well known for her Appalachian novels including She Walks These Hills; The Rosewood Casket, and The Ballad of Frankie Silver. They’ll combine their talents for a memorable evening of music and storytelling. Please arrive early and ask Ms. McCrumb and Mr. Hinshelwood to please help us save Stadium Woods!
